“While He is active in so many, I tell you the ones more mature in the Spirit do not speak to others about the action of the Holy Spirit in their lives. More often than not, graces received by the power of the Holy Spirit need to be kept between the Spirit Himself and the soul. The soul should share everything with his spiritual director. However, to make all graces he receives generally known can transgress humility itself and approach spiritual pride. If the soul’s gifts become known to others, all honor and glory must be given to God, for indeed He is the source.”

Maureen asks: “Doesn’t the Holy Spirit like people to give testimonies?”

“It all depends on what is in the heart at the time. If it comes from a heart full of spiritual pride (look at the graces I received) – ‘no’ – if witness is given to show how the Lord is working to give praise to God – then ‘yes’.”

“Si bien Él está activo en tantos, les digo que quienes son más maduros en el Espíritu no hablan con otros sobre la acción del Espíritu Santo en sus vidas. La mayoría de las veces, las gracias recibidas por el poder del Espíritu Santo deben mantenerse entre el Espíritu mismo y el alma. El alma debe compartir todo con su director espiritual. Sin embargo, dar a conocer todas las gracias que recibe puede transgredir la humildad misma y acercarse al orgullo espiritual. Si los dones del alma llegan a ser conocidos por otros, todo el honor y la gloria deben ser dados a Dios, pues Él es la fuente.”

Maureen pregunta: “¿No le gusta al Espíritu Santo que la gente dé testimonio?”

Todo depende de lo que haya en el corazón en ese momento. Si proviene de un corazón lleno de orgullo espiritual (mira las gracias que recibí), no. Si se da testimonio de cómo el Señor obra para alabar a Dios, sí.
